San Diego Public Library Local Author's Showcase 2025​​​

The Local Author Program highlights the intellectual and creative accomplishments of writers in the San Diego region and is presented for reading interest as well as the opportunity to highlight the diverse and abundant talent we have locally. A centerpiece of the Local Author Program is the Local Author Showcase. The Showcase includes books and ebooks written by adults, teens and children. In its 59th year, the aim of the Showcase is to bring exposure to local talent and nurture the pursuit of the writing arts in San Diego.
Past Events
Rosser Community Center
The first of several public book promotions at Rosser Street Community Center in Prescott. Shayla has become a seasoned "star" in town, much to the delight of kids and adults alike.
Peregrine Book Store
Shayla's books are now featured and selling at the Peregrine Book Store after 2 book promotional events there. Her books are also in circulation at the Prescott Public Library and she joined an author's group event there this past fall.
OLLI Program at Yavapai College
How many dogs can say they became a college student for the day? Chelly spoke about Shayla's books and life before a group of OLLI students at the college this past year. Meanwhile Shayla showed off her many talents, responding perfectly on command as a Canine Good Citizen. The audience loved her.
