We will be on vacation to Pinetop/Lakeside, AZ, with the dogs a week in Sept. (finally boating with the dogs)

Sad News: New Legislation Threatens Wolf Populations
(I strive to not use this newsletter for political stance but this latest bill deeply saddens me and puts me on more caution for our sweet wolfdog and her kin.)
President Trump has signed a new bill that permits the hunting and killing of mexican & gray wolves, effectively stripping away critical protections for these apex predators, and years of rebuilding their numbers.
Despite the narrative often used to justify these measures, U.S. Dept of Ag. data tells a different story: less than 1% of cattle & sheep losses in recent years attributed to wolves.

Shayla & I were invited to attend a presentation on Ukraine this past week in conjunction with Barbara Brown at Las Fuentes independent living. Thanks Barbara!! The folks loved Shayla. JUNEAU (shepherd/malamute)
Juneau (featured in the top photo with Shayla), adopted from Helen Woodward rescue. Our shy boy who loved agility and relied on the girls (Honey & Shayla) to be brave (he would chase other dogs at park then jump on table if they got too close).
Our yellow lab Honey was adopted from San Diego Humane Society at 6 years, then lived with us for another 6 years. She loved playing in water (drinking the ocean water), chasing tennis balls and park squirrels.
What a team.
